WHY VOLUNTEER SBCOC

Making a Difference in Our Community!

Taking time away from your favorite activities to volunteer can be quite a sacrifice, but the benefits of doing so are enormous. Our volunteers help thousands of families and individuals within our very own community. In this process they are gaining new skills, meeting new people, gaining a sense of purpose, boosting morale, and lowering stress! Sign me up!
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
Last year alone we served over 16,000 individuals in our community.

ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEERS

We are called to serve.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but they all share one thing in common: the desire to serve others. It is through the service of SBCOC's volunteers that we are able to provide our services to those in most need within our community.

Many of the volunteers at the Center are seniors and are signed up with the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) - HandsOn Central California program and volunteer approximately four hours per week. Volunteers are also welcome who are only available for a short term or who are in need of completing community service hours for schools, courts, or medical rehabilitation programs.

FLEXIBILITY

We have volunteers who work as little as one 3 hour shift a week to a full 30 hours a week.  Some are only able to volunteer in the summer. Whatever the case may be, please take time to stop by and see how we can set up a schedule that will suit your needs while you can provide your skills for the needs of others!

FRIENDSHIPS

Volunteering SBCOC is a great way to meet new people as well as develop friendships along the way. Also, feel free to encourage your friends to join you on your new adventure. The more the merrier!

OPPORTUNITIES

Many of our senior volunteers participate in the RSVP program. Many of our youth volunteers come to complete volunteer hours for high school graduation and are able to sign up for scholarships.

Many of our senior volunteers participate in the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program. R.S.V.P. (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) is a National Service program, designed to recruit skilled, experienced, active adults ages 55 and older for volunteer activities that work towards meeting the needs of their communities.
